What to Consider When choosing Parrot Stands

Parrot stands are a great way to exercise your bird and allow them social interactions with their human 'flock' or social grouping. Parrots are very social animals and parrot stands make it easy for your birds to become socialized with the family while retaining its own 'safe space'. Keeping the mind, body and social skills healthy is one way to keep your bird happy and healthy (and save the couch from sharp beaks).

When choosing parrot stands the size of your bird and the function of the stand will determine which one you should choose. Decide if you want a stand you can wheel from room to room or one that is portable. If your parrot is big, you will need a stand that is strong and roomy. You should also make sure that your parrot stand is easy to clean and not made of any materials that could injure your parrot or make him sick.

There are several different parrot stands on the market for example, activity trees which are natural wood stands that look like tree branches. You might want to buy a parrot tower which is a model that stands on the floor and acts like a play gym for your bird. Another option is a table top play stand which is a compact stand that you can place on your counter or in a large cage.

Parrots are natural acrobats and are able to use their strong claws and beaks to grip onto objects. They have opposable claws (similar in function to human thumbs) and use their beaks like an extra 'hand'. They love climbing trees, hanging upside down and swinging. Parrot stands allow your bird a place to exercise his or her natural agility and a safe space to play and cavort.

Your parrot will learn to love his parrot stands and will soon regard them as his private domain. If your parrot is frightened his stand will be a safe haven for a retreat or he may sit on his stand in an attempt to get you to notice him. If you have other pets in the house, his stand will allow him to feel safe from his 'birds-eye' perch. Invest in a sturdy stand for your bird and give him a place all his own.
