Different Types of Parrot Swings

Birds love swings and parrot swings are great way to keep your bird entertained for hours. Parrots will screech in pleasure when swinging. It's just something they love to do. Your bird will entertain himself (and you) by hanging by one foot or doing a somersault around his perch.

But parrot swings are more than just a source of entertainment for your bird. Swings are also great exercise equipment! Parrot swings act as a mini gym for your bird - allowing him to stretch and tone his muscles and ligaments and burn off all those extra calories. A swing will also help your bird to learn coordination, balance and foot movement. Keeping your bird's feet and legs healthy will help prevent arthritis. His chest and wing muscles will also get a workout.

Parrot swings may be pleasurable to your pet bird because they feel similar to the swaying motion of a branch in the wind. Another theory as to why parrots love swings so much is that they make it possible for the birds to feel air rush over their bodies - like they would when they fly.

You can buy a variety of parrot swings in a number of different sizes. This means there are swings available for all species of parrot. You might try hanging one in your bird's cage or using them on a parrot stand, gym or playground.

Simple parrot swings are little more than a perch hung by a hanger. The perch can move in a number of directions and you can hang items like treats or toys on the swing. Keep the diameter constantly changing along the length of the perch to help exercise your bird's feet.

Refillable parrot swings allow you to attach the swing at two points, making it a stable option. You can attach wooden blocks or toys to the swing hangers and the birds can either swing or climb the hangers.

Trapezes are parrot swings that come in a variety of different designs. Some are round rings that hang from three points and others hang vertically. Trapezes have one hanger so they turn in all directions. Some are covered with rope which the parrots enjoy trying to unravel!

Caves are parrot swings that consist of a ring hung vertically from a single hanger. The single hanger means they turn and swing in all directions. Caves are covered with colorful or white rope knotted around the rings. These may be a great bet for parrots that pluck their feathers.
